BY-LAWS AND RULES FOR ELECTION

 

I. The Selection Committee

 

  1. The Selection Committee (The Committee) shall consist of a select group of 75 Pontiac enthusiasts.  This committee shall have national representation including 15% representing POCI Board of Directors, 15% GTOAA Board of Directors, 15% members of the Hall of Fame, 15% Media, 15% the industry, the PPA Founding additional form the above listed groups and by a public poll.

 

  1. Committee members shall be appointed by the Board of the PPA Hall of Fame and may be a member of the Board.  The Chair will be appointed by the Board of PPA Hall of Fame.  The terms will be three (3) years staggered.  No member can sit for more than two (2) consecutive terms except those members selected for the initial "short" terms of one (1) or two (2) years allowing six (6) to eight (8) members to sit for seven (7) to eight (8) consecutive years if seated in the initial short first terms.

 

  1. A secretary will be appointed by the Committee and approved by the Board of Directors.  The secretary shall be knowledgeable in Pontiac related information, but need not be a member of the Selection Committee.  The duties of the secretary shall include: preparation of the agenda and minutes; handling correspondence; conducting balloting; and distribution of materials related to the business of the Committee.

 

  1. The Committee shall meet as needed at a time and location of its choosing for the purpose of recommending to the Board of Directors the names of the nominees for induction into the PPA Hall of Fame.

 

II. Selection Process

 

  1. The Selection will be made from nominations made by the Board of the PPA and by the general public including the Committee.  Submissions will be taken through notices posted in various industry Pontiac media outlets and throughout the Pontiac community at large.  The notices will indicate procedure for nomination and deadline for submission to the Committee.  Submission should indicate which category the candidate is best suited (marked by the nominator on the submission form).

                        A.  Technical Builders

                        B.  Builders

 

  1. Contributions:

 

                        A.  Pontiac Ambassadors

                        B.  Pontiac Racing & High Performance

                        C.  Pontiac Entrepreneur

                        D.  Pontiac Company

                        E.  Pontiac Literary & Arts

 

  1. Criteria For Candidates:

 

                        A.  Minimum age of 45

                        B.  Posthumous nominations may be made 5 years postmortem or in the year which the deceased would have reached 45 years of age or whichever is sooner.

 

  1. The annual number of inductees for 2018 may not exceed ten (10) for 2019 and 2020 may not exceed ten (10) and for the years thereafter may not exceed six (6).

 

  1. The annual number of nominees for 2018 may not exceed thirty (30).

 

III. Voting Process

 

  1. For 2018, the Committee will review all the submissions for the following ballot procedures.  Each member of the Committee shall cast their vote from an official elections website which was sent to them via e-mail.

 

  1. Once all votes are tallied for each candidate, only up to fifteen (15) candidates receiving 66% of the possible votes will be considered for nomination to the PPA Hall of Fame.

 

  1. If more than fifteen (15) candidates receive 66% or more, then a subsequent vote will be taken with only those receiving more than 66%.  The candidates receiving the top five (5) total points in this second ranking will be presented to the Board of Directors of the Hall of Fame for induction.

 

  1. For 2019 and thereafter, the Committee will be split into five (5) working parties, with each working party to review all the submissions in an assigned category.  Each working party will submit up to ten (10) names from its assigned category to the entire Selection Committee for a maximum total of fifty (50) for the following ballot procedure.

 

  1. Once all votes are tallied for each candidate, only up to ten (10) candidates receiving 66% of the possible votes will be considered for nomination to the PPA Hall of Fame.

 

  1. If more than ten (10) candidates receive 66% or more, only up to five (5) candidates receiving 66% of the possible points will be considered for nomination to the National PPA Hall of Fame.

 

 

IV. Carry Over For Candidates

 

  1. For 2018, 2019, and 2020 up to twenty-five (25) candidates who were nominated by the public plus all other candidates nominated by the Committee will be carried over to the following year.

 

  1. For 2021 and thereafter the total number of candidates (maximum of 15) less/minus the nominated inductees for that year up to thirty (30) that are nominated for to the PPA Hall of Fame shall automatically be submitted into the candidate pool for the following year.  They may stay in that eligible pool for a maximum of 5 years before having to be re-nominated by the general public.

 

NOTE *** The Board of Directors reserves the right to revoke, alter, or amend these rules.  Changes may not be made during the selection process ***
